Smitty is one wonderful pup. He definitely has a personality that makes you have a little bit of a "crush" on him. He has adjusted well into our home which consist of two canine residents, one feline resident (Smitty's favorite) and three human residents.
Smitty came to us with literally no hair on his body and sores on his sides. We knew that a jacket for outside was a must so he sports two (one which he can just squeeze into now as he is getting so big).
We actually said he looked like a pig (with his little skin wrinkles). So the nicknames started Smitty the Pitti, Smitty the Piggy, Our Little Piggy.....................happy to hear our voices saying any of them to him.
His sores have now cleared up and he has a full body of hair!!!!! He has gained over 7 lbs since coming to our home which is surprising as he still sports a slim figure.
Besides his Demodex, Smitty came down with an ear infection so he is now being treated for that also.
His house manners are coming along. Most days there are no accidents and then when we aren't looking (more like not paying attention) he slips one in!!!!! He is crate trained, treat trained (especially for Purebite Liver treats), wrestling trained, petting trained, digging holes trained and snuggling trained! Just what all puppies love!
We are presently working on Smitty's "Stranger Danger". Due to the fact that he is limited for where he can go, we have people that come over to visit every couple of days. He is thinking this isn't too bad because his liver treat intake seems to increase then!
