UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER HOME ON BOO AND CELIA

Boo is available for adoption!!
Boo is an outgoing girl - tho perhaps a little shy when meeting new people but usually warms up fairly quickly She has recovered nicely from her spay surgery - not that it slowed her down too much for too long. She would do well with a moderately active family - Boo loves to run and play and go for walks.Though she has yet to go to an off leash park, I think that once she is trained and socialized with other dogs she would thoroughly enjoy it. Boo also has a softer side - she loves to be petted and talked to - and to snuggle up when she gets a chance.

Celia is also available for adoption!
Celia has recovered well - put on some weight and has all the vim and vigor of a healthy puppy. Celia is a bit shy and submissive - she plays well with dogs she knows but will need socializing to learn that other dogs are not a threat. She is quite a sensitive girl - a gruff voice is all that is needed to let her know she has made a mistake and she is so apologetic-- ''I really didn't mean to do it" - look on her face. She loves to be talked to and petted and of course a nice warm snuggle makes her pretty happy too! She is going to need a family that is willing to put some time and love into her to help build her confidence and show her that life is good!! and there is really nothing to be afraid of.

Both Celia and Boo are kennel trained - sleeping in the kennel at night and when we go out .. They are both housetrained--walk well on leash with a harness - know 'sit' and are working on 'down'- and are not fond of car rides ( must be a family thing) but that will likely change once they can go somewhere fun - rather than the vet's office. Neither of these pups have been around children but they would likely do fine with older children. They both respond well to positive reinforcement training and are eager to please. Even though both Celia and Boo have spent their recovery time in the same foster home they are not 'bonded' and would do well in forever homes of their own.

UPDATE! UPDATE!!

Both Celia AND Boo are up for Adoption!

Update on Roz!

So I went to see Dr. McBride this morning, and no mites! I weigh 20.3 kgs now too. I go back in 2 weeks just to make sure that they're all gone, but I'm so excited! My foster mom was so happy to hear the news too.
I'm still not ok with getting into the car. I escaped back into the yard this morning when it was time to go to the vet. Foster Dad had to come out and help out mom because I am so strong when I am avoiding the car ride! I'm drooling less though, and then when it was time to come back home I hopped right into the car without needing any coaxing. Mom says this is huge as well.
I've gotten really good at escaping from my kennel during the day. Foster mom and dad have had to get creative to keep the door from coming open (she thinks it's my foster brother Jasper letting me out, so it's not all my fault!) Anyways, I'm doing really well everyone and I'm looking forward to meeting my new forever family that it just around the corner!

UPDATE ON CELIA AND BOO!!!

Boo is almost ready for adoption - she is going on Tuesday - the 15 to get spayed and will be ready for her new forever home!! She is quite a spunky girl, very eyecatching in her multicolored coat. She is kennel trained - tho not her favorite spot - she dives in willingly and sleeps thru the night. She is loving this warmer weather and hanging out by the doggie pool tho I haven't actually seen her in it. She is a great pup -loves going for walks and loves a snuggle on the bed when she can get it.

Celia is doing wonderful - she has gotten so much better!!!-She has been off the mange medication for a couple of weeks now and her problems have all disappeared!!! We are seeing a totally new Celia!!! She is playful, happy and hungry - she'll even eat her kibble with nothing on it!! She has had her first vaccinations and after she gains a few pounds she will be scheduled for spaying. Celia loves the doggie pool - she has a blast splashing around and diving for toys on the bottom - then jump out a tear around the yard --it was great to see her just having FUN!! She too is kennel trained - tho I have been leaving her loose at night with no 'accidents' and she doesn't bother the cats or try to get on the bed. Now that she is feeling better she is really enjoying her walks - her tail wags the whole time- she like to stop for the occassional sniff but trots along quite happily (most of the time) and when she gets home she'll have a good nap.

UPDATE ON MIKEY

Mikey gave all of us a scare, especially his forever home. He got scared of a trailer being pulled in the yard and bolted. He went for a little journey on his own, and had us all worried.

He is now home safe and sound and here is what his new family has to say:

Mikey is just a pleasure to have around. He settled in immediately and is so laid back and kind. Last night I put his bed down on the floor beside mine and he woke me up at 4am to go outside for a pee and then went right back to bed. He has had a few accidents in the house but I think its mostly just us still not quite sure what his 'signs' are. He's a smart dude. This will be a temporary issue I'm sure.
He is still getting used to all of the animals around the yard but he really feeds off of us and our actions so when we don't make a big deal about something neither does he. He is going to be a great farm dog.One of the rules is that the dogs have to "stay on the mat" when they first come in the house because of dirty feet. They can only come in when I feel their feet and deem them clean and dry enough. OH MAN does Mikey talk and complain about that LOL. He is a comedian! He will poke his head around the corner and I will say "on the mat" and he will back up. I go look and his toenails are just as close to the edge of the mat as possible. He wants to be in the house but is such a gentleman he won't push his luck. LoL. I just giggle at him. He is so hilarious.
I don't know where the heck he was for all that time but I'm so glad he's home safe.

UPDATE ON SMITTY

Smitty has still not been cleared of mites and must continue to take his medicine. He went to the Vet at the beginning of June and those creepy little critters were still found with his scrapings. The positive thing is that he gained over 5 lbs again. He is a lean build but his weight gain is excellent.
Smitty is still very nervous of people. He has been going for short walks in the neighborhood in order to get more exposure to different elements. He has also had several people come over and visit with him. A couple people, other than his foster family, have walked him too! He is a gem to walk on the Jac Trac leash.
Next weekend he is going to spend a few days with Celia and Boo. Hopefully this will bring him out of his shell a bit more with a new environment for a few days while his foster mom and dad are away.

UPDATE ON CELIA AND BOO

Once again Celia and Boo visited the vet for a recheck. They both have been taken off the mange medication!!! GREAT!!!!

Boo is really healthy - she had her first vaccinations and will be getting spayed in a couple of weeks and soon after - available for a lucky family to give her the forever home she so deserves. She is a very loving and beautiful girl with a zest for fun that is hard to top- she plays constantly with another foster pup we have taken in - leaving Celia to do her own thing - mostly. She is doing well meeting new people but is fearful and barky of new dogs she encounters (lack of exposure) - but once she meets them she settles down quickly.

Celia - sweet, sweet Celia - has run into some difficulties related to intolerance of the mange medication that she had to be on - I am so so relieved that she no longer needs it!! We (including the vet) are hoping that now that Celia is off the medication that her issues will resolve themselves. She has added some weight but with little appetite she doesn't eat like she should. We have tried quite a few things to spark her appetite and finally with addition of canned dog food and yogurt she is eating more so hopefully this will get her on the road to recovery. Right now she enjoys some playtime with sis but quite often she is napping on the big dog pillow or just hanging out in the yard.Once she is feeling GOOD we could see a whole new Celia emerge --she is a real sweetie - loves a snuggle and just to be close.
